What We Do
A Smarter Way to Build
At Power Shotcrete Structures, we help you save time and money on your construction projects with smart use of structural shotcrete.
Our skilled team has the capabilities, equipment and expertise to take on even the largest and most complex projects. Drawing on the versatility of structural shotcrete construction, we provide innovative and cost-effective solutions that keep your job site operating on time and on budget.
Save Time
We help you accelerate your project schedule and achieve significant time savings by building structural foundation exterior walls and other structures using shotcrete. This eliminates the need for the complex and time-consuming formwork used with cast-in-place (CIP) concrete.
Example: For a one-sided wall, form workers are typically capable of only 60 feet on average of poured one-sided wall per day (based on average 10-foot high walls). With structural shotcrete applications, the average is approximately 150–180 feet of linear wall per day, which is about 58% to 66% faster than conventional one-sided wall construction.
Save Money
We help you achieve significant savings on labour and material costs with the use of structural shotcrete compared with the use of CIP concrete.
What is Structural Shotcrete
Structural shotcrete is a type of wet-mix concrete that is applied using a pneumatic spray technique.
When used in construction, conventional concrete must be poured into formwork, which needs to be customized and built for the specific needs of the job site. In contrast, structural shotcrete is applied without any formwork, resulting in significant time and cost savings.
The use of structural shotcrete has its origins in seismic retrofitting of schools and commercial buildings. However, it didn’t take long for this technically sound and economically attractive solution to be applied to new builds as well.
Today, structural shotcrete construction has become the norm for major formwork companies in BC and across Canada.
Environmental Footprint
The use of structural shotcrete reduces the need for materials to build forms and trucks to move them. This can help to reduce the overall carbon footprint of a project.
At Power Shotcrete Structures, our recycling efforts and the minimization of our environmental footprint have helped us earn LEED points.
